Completion and attrition rates for apprentices and trainees 2023: time series

12 September 2024

This time series presents completion and attrition rates for apprentices and trainees to date, i.e. incorporating the most recent data available up to 2023.

Apprentice and trainee contract completion and attrition rates are calculated by tracking the outcomes of contracts of training over time. Individual completion rates take into account individuals recommencing, or ceasing one contract and starting another in the same or superseded qualification, with a different employer.

The time series allows users to interact with data for individuals and contracts that commenced between 2011 and 2019, by state and territory and trade status.

Data presented in this product are derived from the National Apprentice and Trainee Collection no.119 (March 2024 estimates) and Collection no.84 (June 2015 estimates). These collections are compiled under the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) for Apprentice and Trainee Collection Specifications, Release 7.0, October 2015.
